    Field Description
Primary Physical Item A tag exists in the context of a larger system or physical item. In the case of a Nuclear Plant, this is usually the plant / facility.
Code A Code field forms part of the unique Prime Identifier for the tag. Use the Auto Number icon to generate the next available number either from the Tag Mask defined in System Defaults or from a manually entered mask.
Revision Lets you type in up to 8 alphanumeric characters to signify the revision of the tag. This field is mandatory for tags subject to change control (Cc).
Change Controlled Set this check box if the item is to be under change control. If the check box is not set, the item is not under change control.
Name Lets you type in a name for the tag instance.
Description Lets you enter a description for the tag instance.
Class Lets you enter the tag class. Selecting the Class Lookup icon provides a list of established class categories from which to choose. Once selected, the system will display both the class code followed by the class name.
Approval Status Lets you set the approval status for the tag. Click the drop-down list and select the appropriate status (Approved or Not Approved) for the tag.
Operational Status Lets you set the operational status for the tag. Click the drop-down list and select the appropriate status (Planned, Operational, Removed, or Abandoned in Place).
Installed Item Lets you add an installed item for the tag. The Installed item can be either a physical item (during the design phase) or a configured serial item (when implemented). In order to add an installed item you must first add equivalent items using the Equivalent Items topic. For more information, see the Equivalent Items topic.
Serial Qty Per The maximum number of serial items that may be installed at this location. For point assets the value is normally 1, but for batch items like nuts & bolts, liquid, etc., the value can be higher than 1.
Function This field is also referred to as the system. The system is the functional requirements for the tag. For example, if the tag is a DVD drive in a computer, the system for the DVD drive is probably the External Peripherals system which is represented in AssetWise by a grouped virtual item.
Date Effective Signifies the date when the tag is first released or used. Sometimes this coincides with the release date. Click the list to select the date from a calendar.
Date Obsolete Entering a date in this field marks the tag as obsolete and it becomes historic. Click the list to select the date from a calendar.
Tag State The tag state is derived from a numeric value property placed on the tag record. This numeric value is manipulated when the condition of the tag changes, for example, under change, changing, obsolete, and so on. The value is updated by the system and the user is not allowed to explicitly change it.
